A simple chicken curry with the goodness of yoghurt The best thing is that it has absolutely NO coconut milk!! We make this at home atleast once a week. Tastes awesome with just plain white rice and any veggie of your choice. When are you adding this to your menu? :)

6-8  pieces chicken
2 tbsps + 4 tbsps plain yoghurt
1 cardamom, 2 cloves, 1 small piece cinnamon
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small tomato chopped
2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
1 big tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tbsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsps corriander powder
1 cup water
1 pandan/screwpine leaf(optional)
1 handful mint/ corriander leaves

  • Marinate the chicken in 2 tbsps of yoghurt and little of the mint leaves. Keep aside.(for atleast half an hour)
  • In another bowl dilute 4 tbsps of yoghurt with the 1 cup of water. Add the corriander powder and stir well. Keep ready.
  • In a wok, heat some oil. Add the cardamom, cloves and cinnamon.
  • Add the onions. saute for a minute and add the green chillies.
  • After the onions become slightly browned add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute till the raw smell goes away.
  • Add the tomato and saute.
  •  Add the chicken mixture. Stir for a few minutes.
  • Add the chilli powder, cumin and turmeric powder.
  • Add the diluted yoghurt mixture and cook.
  • Add the mint leaves and knotted pandan leaf.
  • Close and cook till the chicken has cooked.
